What does unlimited mean? Data speeds, limits, and the 35 GB rule explained

What unlimited means on Love Mobile, what happens after you use your high-speed data, the 35 GB network protection rule, and why speeds can dip in crowded areas.

Written by Love

Every Love Mobile plan includes unlimited talk and text. When you see our plans described as unlimited, that is what it means: unlimited calling and unlimited texting, every month, on every plan.

High-speed data works differently. Each plan includes a set amount of high-speed data per month, and this article explains exactly what happens as you use it.

High-speed data by plan

  • Essential, $15/mo, 1 GB

  • Freedom, $25/mo, 5 GB

  • Elevate, $35/mo, 12 GB

  • Legacy, $55/mo, 22 GB

  • Purpose, $60/mo, 30 GB, exclusive to Love Pink

Your high-speed data resets on your renewal date each month.

What happens when I use all my high-speed data?

You are not cut off and you are never charged a surprise overage. Once you pass your plan's high-speed amount, your data keeps working at reduced speeds for the rest of your billing cycle. Full speed returns on your renewal date.

Reduced speeds handle messaging, email, maps, and light browsing. Streaming and large downloads will feel slow. If you hit reduced speeds every month, you are on the wrong tier, and you can move up anytime from Manage My Account.

What is the 35 GB rule?

Separate from your plan's high-speed amount, our Terms include a network protection rule: if a single line uses more than 35 GB of mobile data in one billing cycle, service on that line may be suspended for the remainder of the cycle to protect the network for everyone.

Two honest things about this rule:

  • It exists to stop extreme use, like running a whole household's internet or a business server through one phone line. It is not aimed at normal phone use.

  • Very few customers ever get near it. Our largest plan includes 30 GB of high-speed data, and usage above your plan amount happens at reduced speeds, which makes reaching 35 GB unusual in practice.

The full policy lives in our Terms and Conditions. If your line is ever affected, contact us and we will look at it with you.

Why is my data slow even though I have data left?

In crowded areas and at peak times, like events, stadiums, and busy downtowns, the network can get congested and speeds can dip for everyone in that spot. That is temporary and location-based. It is not your plan running out, and it clears when the congestion does.

Quick answers

Is there an unlimited high-speed data plan? No. Talk and text are unlimited on every plan. High-speed data is a set amount per tier, with Purpose at 30 GB being our largest.

Will I be charged extra if I go over? No. There are no overage charges, ever. Speeds reduce instead.

Does hotspot count against my data? Yes. Hotspot shares your plan's high-speed data. See How data and mobile hotspot work on your plan.

Can I add more data mid-month? Contact us and we will go over your options.
